NANA’S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES (five dozen)

2-1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (a 12 ounce package) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
- Preheat the oven to 375*.
- Combine the flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
- In the bowl of a large mixer, beat the granulated sugar, brown sugar and butter until creamy (about 3 to 5 minutes). Add the vanilla and beat. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Gradually beat in the flour mixture and stir in the chips and nuts.
- Drop by mounded teaspoonfuls, 3 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes, then remove from cookie sheets onto a wire rack to cool completely.
