WHITE SANGRIA WITH PEACHES (for six)

one 750 ml bottle not-too-dry white wine (Gewurztraminer or Reisling)
¼ cup Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur
1 lime, peeled and sliced
1 orange, peeled and sliced
1 cup sliced fresh or canned peaches
½ cup sugar syrup, or to taste (recipe follows)
sparkling water
1. In a large pitcher, combine the wine, Grand Marnier, lime, orange and peaches. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
2. Add the sugar syrup to taste. Serve in glasses with ice cubes and sparkling water.
SUGAR SYRUP (1 cup)
1 cup sugar

1. Combine the sugar with 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Cool.
2. Cover and refrigerate. It will keep indefinitely.
