NANA’S DEVILED HAM

NANA’S DEVILED HAM (about 2 cups)

3 cups cooked ham, cut into ¾ inch pieces

¼ cup Dijon-style mustard

½ stick (¼ cup) unsalted butter, softened

1 tablespoon honey

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

1/3 cup minced onion, more to taste

1/3 cup minced sweet pickle, more to taste

¼ cup minced Major Grey chutney (or homemade pear or apple chutney), optional

Tabasco sauce to taste (start with one generous shake and see where that takes you…)


  1. In a food processor grind the ham until it is minced, add the mustard, butter, honey and cloves and blend the mixture until it is smooth.
  1. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the onion, pickle, chutney and pepper to taste. Pack into a crock.
  1. Serve with crackers or as a sandwich filling (see deviled ham and pickle sandwiches or deviled ham and pecan tea sandwiches.)
